The Bruce Kilgore-designed Air Force 1 has always been the perfect canvas for collaborators, with a contemporary profile suitable for endless designs. This iteration with the Japan-based brand is borrowing the same theme as the AMBUSH x Nike Dunk High in 2020, with Swooshes extending past the heels.
This AMBUSH x Nike Air Force 1 Low Black comes constructed in Black leather build detailed with a White oversized Swoosh similar to the AMBUSH Dunks. Premium leather takes over the silhouette throughout the underlays and overlays while branding details get reworked in classic AMBUSH fashion, seen on the reverse of the “AF1” branded lace dubrae and the co-branded tongue tag. Along the midfoot, the Nike Swoosh extends out from the heel and comes in an inverse color on the “Black” and “Phantom” pairs. Further touches nodding to the collaborator can also be found on the insole, heel overlay and rubber outsole. Completing the design is the standard chunky AF1 midsole.
The story behind AMBUSH
It is impossible to imagine the sneaker scene today without the AMBUSH brand. The brand was founded by Yoon Ahn, a female designer from Tokyo. With her sleek designs and modern-looking designs, she has made her name inside and outside the sneaker scene and has big plans for the next years.
Yoon Ahn, born in South Korea, raised in Boston, and later living in Tokyo, has a broad resume. At a young age, she left for Tokyo to establish her own brand there. Without knowing the language, she moved to the metropolis and found her own way in combining streetwear and high-end fashion with AMBUSH.
Before the birth of her own brand, AMBUSH, Yoon Ahn worked as a jewelry designer. With eye-catching and hip-hop-inspired jewelry, her name quickly became a household name, and her work caught the eye of artists such as Pharrell Williams and Kanye West. After entering the hip-hop scene with her jewelry, things went fast and in 2008, together with Japanese rapper Verbal, she founded AMBUSH.
What is the difference between Nike Air Force 1 and AF1 low?
They are pretty much the same shoe. Only difference is the af1 has Air Force one spelled out instead of af1 on the shoe and the midsole is lower on originals.
Why are Air Force 1s so popular?
The classic yet stylish look, proportions, availability, comfort and wearability all factor into the Air Force 1s popularity. Air Force 1s look great with most casual outfits and have a rich history that appeals to sneaker fanatics
