Nike Air Max 1 ’86 ‘Big Bubble’ White/University Red – airmax 100

The Air Max 1 saw its 35th Anniversary in 2022, with Nike dropping a load of high-heat colourways to celebrate this milestone. Revealed on SNKRS Live during the first half of 2022, the Air Max 1 OG Big Bubble was shown to closely resemble Tinker’s original ’86 design. Unless you were closely tied to Nike during that period, the Air Max 1 we are familiar with has always had a three-circle Air Unit, whereas the first run had four. Due to the technical difficulties that surrounded the first batch’s Air unit, the bubble was sized down and remained that way since. Yes, the Air unit has shrunk in size since its 90s retro, but has always kept to its three-circle structure.For the first time since 1986, the Air Max 1 will be released with its original four-circle Air unit. This was no easy feat for Nike, with the design team stating it took three years of work to achieve the look. Expected to release during 2023, let’s hope it’s not too long before we get a chance to have these OGs laced on our feet. It’s been over five years since the “Anniversary Red” pair from 2017 dropped on SNKRS so Air Max heads will definitely be in a rush to secure a fresh pair, especially with this OG tooling.
